A Academia de Artes & Ciências Televisivas realizou neste dia 15 a cerimônia principal do Emmy Awards 2023, premiando as melhores séries do ano em diversas categorias.
Originalmente, e como acontece todos os anos, o evento estava previsto para o mês de setembro, mas foi adiado por conta das greves de atores e roteiristas de Hollywood. Como praticamente ninguém poderia comparecer à cerimônia na data prevista, o Emmy foi remanejado para o mês de janeiro.
Duas séries foram o grande destaque da noite: Succession, que saiu com seis estatuetas das categorias de drama, e O Urso, que entregou uma incrível primeira temporada, saindo também com seis prêmios. Vale ainda citar a minissérie Treta, da Netflix, foi lembrada em cinco oportunidades na noite.
O Emmy entregou o Governors Award, prêmio especial, para a instituição GLAAD, que se dedica a monitorar como a mídia retrata as pessoas da comunidade LGBTQIA+. Outro momento emocionante da noite foi o In Memoriam, que relembrou os artistas que nos deixaram este ano, e teve um momento especial para Matthew Perry, de Friends, com a música-tema da série.
